SIGN UP: Blog tour for Jade War by Fonda Lee

If you’ve been following me for a while now, then this wouldn’t be your first time hearing (or seeing???) me mention an adult Asian-inspired fantasy entitled, Jade City by Fonda Lee. It’s a brilliant novel that I read because of CW’s persistent recommendation and I loved it so much that it comes as no surprise that its sequel, Jade War, is my most highly anticipated release of this year.

Having said that, I am extremely pleased and honored to announce that, in cooperation with Orbit Books, I am organizing an international blog tour for Jade War!

If you’re interested in being the first to receive blog tour invitations, then I highly encourage you to sign up as an official coffee bean (yes, official tour hosts of Caffeine Book Tours are called coffee beans, and the name is just really cute, okay).

Genre: Adult, Fantasy

Diversity tags: Asian author (Chinese American), POC representation (Asian)

Publication date: 23 July 2019

Publisher: Orbit Books

Synopsis: In Jade War, the sequel to the World Fantasy Award-winning novel Jade City, the Kaul siblings battle rival clans for honor and control over an Asia-inspired fantasy metropolis.

On the island of Kekon, the Kaul family is locked in a violent feud for control of the capital city and the supply of magical jade that endows trained Green Bone warriors with supernatural powers they alone have possessed for hundreds of years.

Beyond Kekon’s borders, war is brewing. Powerful foreign governments and mercenary criminal kingpins alike turn their eyes on the island nation. Jade, Kekon’s most prized resource, could make them rich – or give them the edge they’d need to topple their rivals.

Faced with threats on all sides, the Kaul family is forced to form new and dangerous alliances, confront enemies in the darkest streets and the tallest office towers, and put honor aside in order to do whatever it takes to ensure their own survival – and that of all the Green Bones of Kekon.

Fonda Lee is an author of science fiction and fantasy novels for adults and teens. Her fantasy trilogy, the Green Bone Saga, begins with Jade City, which won the 2018 World Fantasy Award for Best Novel, was a finalist for the Nebula and Locus Awards, and was named a Best Book of 2017 by NPR, Barnes & Noble, Powell’s Books, Syfy Wire, and the Verge.

Her young adult science fiction novels, Zeroboxer, Exo, and Cross Fire, have garnered accolades including being named Junior Library Guild Selections and Andre Norton Award finalists. Fonda won the Aurora Award, Canada’s national science fiction and fantasy award, twice in the same year for Best Novel and Best YA Novel. Fonda is a recovering corporate strategist, black belt martial artist, and action movie aficionado living in Portland, Oregon.

The official hashtag for this blog tour is #JadeWarTour, and it will run from July 22nd to July 27th. Because I am based in the Philippines, it will follow my country’s time zone (UTC+08:00).

This is a promotional, international blog tour that accommodates all book bloggers, regardless of where they are located (be it inside or outside of the United States). Asian (#ownvoices and non-#ownvoices) readers are highly encouraged to participate. (However, it should be noted that the slots for this blog tour are limited, and filling out the form does not guarantee anyone a slot.)

Sign-ups will close on June 13th, and the 30 selected participants will be contacted via email a few days after. All official tour hosts will receive physical review copies of Jade War and will be expected to post a review for the blog tour. Although this is a review-required tour, you are more than welcome to add other creative or promotional content of your preference.

This promotional blog tour is in cooperation with Orbit Books (massive thanks to the publisher for agreeing to work with me!). As mentioned earlier, physical review copies or ARCs will be distributed among participants. This means that private information (e.g. full name, mailing address) will be collected. Because of this, you must be AT LEAST eighteen years old to sign up.

For other concerns or inquiries, you are more than welcome to leave a comment!

  1. Hi. I had a look at the sign-up form and I have some questions, if you don’t mind? On the Preferred Content and Schedule page there are only six options for Additional Creative Content. I was wondering if those were the only additional creative content allowed or if we could suggest something ourselves. I realise also that the Preferred Dates are not guaranteed and wondered how much the potential blogger’s choice is taken into account.
    Thank you.

    1. Hello! Great questions — let me do my best to answer them.

For the additional creative content, the six options are pretty standard for a blog tour. But if you’d like to suggest an idea that isn’t listed as an option, there’s a space in Section 6 (the last section before submitting your response) where you’re free to do so.

Regarding the schedule, there are allocated slots per day that need to be filled up. For instance, if there are 30 participants and 6 days for the tour, then that means 5 slots per day. And that constrains me from giving everyone their desired schedule, especially because interested bloggers have the tendency to pick the later dates over the earlier ones. Typically, bloggers with a lot of expected additional content (especially own art and graphics) are given a slightly higher priority for the later dates so that they have more time to create content.

I hope you understand why the system is like that. But if you have serious time constraints that prevent you from posting on the other dates, then you can use the free space (again, located on the last section of the form) to let me know what they are so I can take them in consideration.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have other questions.

    1. Hello, Gwendalyn! The link is located below the sign up image embedded in this post. As for Spin the Dawn, the form has already been closed.

Thank you for your interest! Hope this clears things up. 😊
