April to August Synopsis (Part 1): The Ultimate Reading Update (aka all the books I read in the past 5 months)

Friends, it’s been ages — five months, in fact — since I last wrote a wrap-up post of any sort. And knowing that has made me feel a little bit too sad for the past few days.

One of my major goals for this year was to share more about myself and my life outside books — and wrap-up posts, I believe, are an excellent method to let all of you know what I’ve been up to both online and offline. Ironically, I’ve been so overwhelmed and busy that I haven’t been able to share much at all! And while I am still very much active on Twitter, sharing personal stuff in 280-character increments isn’t all that satisfactory or fulfilling.

February & March Synopsis: blogging backlogs & Avengers-inspired TBR

February & March Synopsis: blogging backlogs & Avengers-inspired TBR

In an ideal world where I have a lot more free time on my hands and an abundant amount of motivation to write, I would have written separate monthly synopsis posts for February and March, despite the fact that it’s nearly April already. But alas, this is not an ideal world, I’m feeling as lazy and exhausted as ever, and I’m typing this post while binge-watching another series on Netflix (Girlboss, in case any of y’all are curious about the train wrecks I like to hate-watch).

My blogging has been really inconsistent and sporadic for the past couple of months, and given that this always happens halfway through the semester, I wish I could say that I totally expected this. But ya girl is still really naïve and optimistic (you know, despite everything).

JANUARY SYNOPSIS: a month of projects, messy planning, & Asian books

Hello there, friends! In the blink of an eye, January is over and we are already diving into the second month of the year (or am I the only one who feels like the passage of time has been extraordinarily quick?).

Either way, a new month means new memories, new opportunities, and ultimately, a new chance to halfheartedly convince ourselves that this is the month we will finally conquer our TBR piles and exterminate the enormous shameful monster that is our review backlog*.

All My Ambitions for 2019 (aka please hold me accountable, friends!)

All My Ambitions for 2019 (aka please hold me accountable, friends!)

The first month of 2019 is quickly coming to a close, and for some unfathomable reason, I’m a bigger mess of a person than usual.

Big yikes. But what do I mean by that? Well, in a very un-Shealea-like fashion (disclaimer: not an actual word!), I am currently without a prepared planner and without an official list of goals and resolutions. In fact, my 2018 planner still isn’t finished — and yes, just typing it into this blog post feels eerily like bringing dishonor to my family (and to my personal principles). But I digress.

New Year, New Blog: Are you ready for it?

Honey, I rose up from the dead. I do it all the time. — Hi hey hello, friends!

WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG!

I am high-key cringing that after all the not-so-subtle hyping up I’ve done for the past week or so, I am presenting a half-finished blog (excuse me while I weep in the corner of shame). I couldn’t afford to delay this launch any longer because I have too many plans for 2019 and too little breathing room — so please bear with me and this virtual mess. Everything else should be up by the end of the week. But I digress.
