Book blogging is significantly different from other popular blogging niches (e.g. lifestyle, fashion, sports), and it is generally seen as a thankless endeavor — which is a sentiment that holds a lot of water, especially when we take into consideration the publishing industry’s treatment towards their bloggers. Book bloggers are regarded as machines for free publicity and press, and only the very privileged few are compensated for their work.
Although it is evident that Shut up, Shealea has expanded its repertoire beyond literature, my roots as a content creator can nevertheless be traced back to my early years as a book blogger. In an already inequitable niche, being based in a third-world country only fortified pre-existing barriers and amplified struggles for me — and truly, my book blogging journey has instilled in me a sense of infinite gratitude for whatever support I receive.
With that said, this page features the members of my sunflower garden, and it is only a small token of appreciation for my Patreon supporters and subscribers. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
